Exploring Dayton

Gloria's cousin has chickens.
Day three of the Entrepreneurs Academy was full of new discoveries. Those discoveries included a whole host of new things, including everything from exploring the 2nd Street Market to petting the chickens who live at Gloria's cousin's house!

At the beginning of the day, students continued working with Renee Trimbach, as well as Bridget Flaherty, on a blueprint exercise. Their goal was to narrow their focus and interests into a potential future business.
Bridget Flaherty, the author of bthejourney.com blog, worked alongside Renee Trimbach this morning on helping students identify their core values.
Students discuss their preferred superhero power to figure out what matters to them most.

To help them generate additional ideas and see a successful public/private partnership, the students traveled the short distance to 2nd Street Market of Five Rivers MetroParks, where they were given a tour of the market.

Thankfully the rain cleared up before the walk to 2nd St. Market!
Have to stop for a picture in front of 2nd St!

Students heard about what it takes for the local entrepreneurs who want to become vendors at 2nd St. Market.
The food was hard to resist!
Students found Azra's, which is run by fellow Herzegovinian Azra!
After visiting the market, The Deli and Top of the Market hosted and Scott and Jill Koorndyk provided lunch for the entire class (thank you!)

Commissioner Matt Joseph joined us for lunch too!
Fun times and good conversation!

After the brief excursion, the students returned to The Entrepreneurs Center to finish up their day and work on their blueprint exercises as they honed in on what kinds of things they want to do in their future businesses!

The evening was full of new activities, which ranged from Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, to Pecha Kucha presentations, to chicken petting!

Some of the students from the course (and Gloria's brother, Pedro!) went skating tonight!
Dario, Nikola, Mateo, Ana, Amanda and Arch went to the Pecha Kucha Dayton event at the Dakota Center and saw the Dakota Learning Center drumline! They were awesome!
Lots of great presentations at the Dayton PK!
The fun times continue tomorrow as students wrap up their first week of the course. Tomorrow's agenda also includes the World A'Fair!
